Groom Texas : Out on the I-40 between Amarillo Tx and Oklahoma. I have passed it many times but never stopped till now. Standing 190' tall it is visible from 20 miles away and I am glad I was there for the sunrise.

Santa Rosa Lake state park : A little excursion this weekend to a campground in Santa Rosa state park. Lot fee for camping $14 a night with electric and water hookups and some killer scenery. The resident host is a bird expert named Bob Weston and at 86 has better eyesight than I, he can tell you a species, sex and home of origin. I got up early to get the sunrise over the lake and a tarantula if I could find one and was not disappointed. Lagniappe was the Humming bird feeder and the 3 different species that visited (according to Bob). All in all a great break and Cynthia and I will definitely be back...
